Is BP gas best for plug issue?
Ok, well, since names are being mentioned... What about putting in Amsoil Fuel Treatment in at every fill? Doesn't that also cut down on the crud? We've used it on ALL of our trucks, from the '00 F150, to the Excursion, the Honda (I know, car), and ALL of our Freightliners. It gave me 2 more mpg in the Honda and 2.6 in the Excursion. Not sure about the old 150.

Amsoil PI is a great fuel treatment but Techron is easier to get.
I seriously doubt anyone can really consider a difference of .2 mpg as a measurable difference also I doubt that it can be attributed to a change in gasoline. That is, that difference is _so_ small it could be from anything. I've yet to match my mpg to that small of a difference even using the same gasoline. I also apply the same logic to "runs smoother".
Texaco is the same as Shell, here. They both have the Techron signs and the same truck delivers.

Texaco and Chevron are the same company. They both use Techron.
Shell uses V-power which they claim is not Techron. It seems odd to me that they would use a competitors cleaner if they claim theirs is better. Must be a distribution issue in your area.

That's always a possibility!

Shell is very **** about every step in the process right down to delivery trucks. In most ares you will only see Shells own company trucks filling up a Shell station not local bulk carriers. This allows them to control the cleanliness of the delivered fuel. I know there are exceptions to every rule but in general it is one of the best fuels for cleanliness.
Point is that if he is using Shell he will most likely not get cleaner plugs by switching to BP.

that shell tanker loads out of the same riser that unbranded fuel comes from. also that squeaky clean shell tanker could have loaded red farm fuel on the load before he went to that squeaky clean shell station
are you allowed to watch tv by yourself? if you believe everything you are told, your credit card bill must be a bit much after a evening of watching the home shopping network

Next time provide some facts and offer useful information to the thread instead of insults. Insults only show who you are and do not bother me.
Also re-read my post that you quoted and you will see I said "most areas" and "exceptions to every rule". I understand the distribution of fuels varies from area to area. You obviously have had a different experience.
Up here in New England you only see Shell trucks at Shell stations. Up here I get the best mileage and performance out of Shell and Sunoco. Unfortunately they are also more expensive so I will get Citgo at my neighorhood convenience store quite often as well. I get the worst performance from Mobil although they claim to be very clean as well. I have documented every tank of fuel since I bought my truck. I now have over 121K and a very good idea of whose fuel works best for me. Your mileage may vary.
By the way I do not get my info from television. I do not have credit cards. And I do not believe everything you are telling me and do not expect you to believe me either.
