For the average Joe Commuter who uses his truck to drive back and forth to work, tow occasionally and bash around in the woods or whatever, I don't think Amsoil accomplishes anything better than any other good engine oil, conventional or synthetic.

Its all what you are happy with. I tried Royal Purple and when its time is up I am going back to Casteroil. I had not noticable differance.

Amsoil is a superior product and the majority of people don't know how to take advatange of its capabilities. Many also think it's a scam because of its dealership network and not being main-stream, and that's OK too. The dealership network has worked very very well for Amsoil as a corporation and they are proud of it and have a loyalty to thier dealers that most other companies (and individuals) don't understand anyways.

People complain about the price, but that again takes me back to those not willing to take full advantage of its capabilities...yes the extended oil changes. In the end though, it is up to you and what you believe, and a lot of it comes down to plain ol brand name loyalty just like anything else in your life. There probably really is no bad oil out there any may suit your needs. As can be said with probably any other brand, I challenege someone to prove some type of engine failure or other problems directly caused by using Amsoil.

Amsoil is not a scam, and it's a proven product. Hopefully some of the other guys jump on here to balance out the replies

I like it in the trans - Brought the temps way down and my trans has never shifted this good.

The crankcase. Well , I've always used Castol (245,000 miles) - I tried Amsoil because I recieved a case as a gift. That stuff cleaned the insides of my engine up so well, it sludged up my PCV valve and line. Great oil , but watch it if you have high miles - It clean's a little to well in my case

I use Mobol 1 5W30 in my 97 F150. The engine uses 1/2 qt in 4000 miles. The truck has 180,000 miles and runs great- I have never cleaned the throttle body of EGR passages.
K and N filters suck. I have tried K and N's twice and there is always dirt in the intake track on the clean side of the filter. That is enough proof for me that they are not only not worth the money they are a waste of gas to bring them home.

I switched over to Amsoil 5W30 synthetic in my FX4, and put in one of their EAA air filters. I don't exactly know if that did it, but Im getting 21 mpg out of it now.

5.4, I have never seen over 19 on the hiway in it no matter what combo of oil/gas I have used. I almost thought my gas gauge was messed up for a minute, the needle hit half a tank at 254 miles, but when I filled it up and calculated it out it was 21.6 mpgs.

The only thing that I have used is the Performance Improver gas treatment. It is suppose to last 4000-5000 miles. I have ran 4 tanks(1300 miles) and have seen a 1 mpg increase.

My dad runs Amsoil 0W20 ASM and an EAA air filter (and we swapped out the tranny to ATF last time he visited) in his '07 4WD and he got 23 mpg out of a couple tanks driving home cross country...after he got out of Cali though!!!

Take it with a grain of salt - the only reasons RI says it's a scam is the multilevel marketing model and the fact that they are not API-certified due to the total synthetic base and high ZDDP content. The vast majority of synthetics today are Gp3 dino based due to cost.
