A/C and Trany ??? little help here please..

Ok I have a 2000 F150 5.4L 209k miles..

I have two things going on with it..

one: the A/C when I first start the truck up it blows cold air and stops! cluch not spining starts blowing hot air what is wrong.. the cluch is spinning when the truck is 1st started up..

two: after the truck has been parked for 5 or 6 hours and put into drive it well take a few sec for it to pop into drive ???... fluid is full and brown clear looking?..

Thank you for any and all help on this..

The a/c sounds like it may be undercharged possibly. Or you have a problem in the system. I would have someone hook up some gauges to it and see what the high and low pressures are. If they are fine and it is still cutting off, the high pressure sensor could be going bad. Sensing a high pressure and cutting the compressor off.

The tranny sounds like the spools may be getting gummed up and are not moving smoothly in the valve body. You said the fluid is Brown? It should be a more pink/red color.
If it is brown, it is worn down. has there been an instance of it runing hot, the engine?
When was the fluid last changed in the tranny?
May want to do a full fluid change, not just drain the pan, that still leaves 2/3's of it in the torque converter. I would be willing to bet this would clear up the issue if there are no other problems with it in shifting and no slippage.

Low Side:
21. psi-35. psi

High Side:
199 psi- 227. psi

This should get you in the ballpark.......Depends on outside air temp as well since r134 expands more than r-12 did. the hotter the outside airtemp is the higher the numbers will be....
