put the metal part across the two terminals and make sure you are only touching the handle of the screwdriver.

i dont think you really start the starter that way, just jump it to see if its getting power.

Because he doesn't want to fix it . - His problem really isn't that difficult to figure out - IMO.

lol. man you need LT headers so you can appreciate the room between the stock manifolds and the starter... seriously the top bolt is damn near dead above the bottom. probably kicked outside 1/4" or so?

what do u mean by u only got one bolt out?

Yea it's a b^tch with headers now - I can still get it tho. I can have the starter on the bench in about 8 minutes - I've had the damn thing out about 5 times in the last year

I go thru the inner fenderwell - much faster than from down below.

I don't know what year your truck is, but there should be a starter relay on the fender near the battery. Just follow the positive battery cable from the battery, and it should go straight to it. You will see another battery cable attached to a second post on the relay, this cable goes to the starter.

Turn your ignition ON, and using two large screwdrivers, place one so that it rests on one of the large relay posts, and the other screwdriver so it rests on the second large post, and then cross the screwdrivers so the shaft of each touches each other. There will be a large show of sparks, which will startle you, but don't worry about it. The starter will spin, and if all else is good, the engine will start. Remove the screwdrivers as soon as it starts.

Why remove the starter just to bolt it back up if it's bad.

I'd check the fuses and/or replace the soleniod first. Cause if the fuse is bad most likely it's the soleniod on the firewall.

Yea that relay (or solenoid on the firewall) in his model relies on one of those little black fuses - Says that on the service DVD - I looked it up yesterday for him(he has two threads going on this issue ), but he didn't reply

I think it was fuse #32.

Here's his other thread - https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=337034

He has more than enough info to find the problem IMO - Just not doing as advised.
