Spark Plug Removal

I'm in the process of getting new Motorcraft plugs and GSM coils for my '04 F150 5.4L. I have read several horror stories about plug and coil removal and was wondering if I should save myself a potential nightmare and take it to the dealer. I know dealers are scam artists and will get taken to the cleaners, but if there is an issue with one of the plugs braking they will at least have the necessary tools to fix it. Should I do the coils myself and the dealer do the plugs? The truck as 75K on it and don't know if the plugs have ever been replaced or inspected as I bought it used.

Dealers aren't scam artists - it's people like you that give them that title.

You mean Granatelli's GMS ? Why get those ? If they even work, they won't last long. Why not get better coils? - There most likely even cheaper. I would go w/MotoBlues w/Heavy duty connector kit for a 3 valve. I would also go with One piece plugs instead of two. It could save you some grief in the future.

No they give themselves that title, at least the ones I have dealt with.
I'm sure theres an exception to the rule, but I can only go with my own experience.

Why do you think the GMS coils are bad? Troyer Performance recommends them and they usual know what their talking about. What would you recommend for plugs? I looked for the MotorBlue connectors and could only find them at RPM Outlet. I had a bad experience with them so I won't be using them again.

LOL Well here they are scam artist. We get ATLEAST 5 people a week that bring in a bill from a dealership that needs around $1000-$2500 worth of work. We take a look at it, and sometimes 1 or two things the dealer says does need fixed. But NEVER have i seen a car come in that the dealer says has problem A and thats exactly what it needs.

In my eyes they lie to extremes, but its because they are all on flat rate, and they get money by doing labor. I dont blame them, I would too if I was flat rate.
