4.6 to lightning engine swap
4.6 to lightning engine swap
ive searched a little bit here and there and i think im set on what i need to do, but not sure how to go about it. i have a 1998 f150 offroad prerunner with a 4.6 v8. the power is good but id like to bump it up. i was thinking of doing an engine swap from the current 4.6 to the lightning supercharged 5.4.... pros vs cons?? any suggestions? easy swap? thank you for any help

pro's: power EVERYWHERE
cons: the headaches to get there
for u to get there, you need the basic 5.4 block & heads, Lightning intake. complete that and then look for tuning.
youll probably have to lengthen TPS, IAC and IAT. the physical swap is pretty easy.
just use the stock filter at first so you dont fuel soak it like i was doing trying to run a short ram filter off my 4.6. in my theory thats unproven except the fact it runs now, the short ram filter caused turbulant air / false maf reading.
