best time to change plugs?
Before it blows out of the head

Sorry Ive had a couple.I couldn't resist.
But all kidding aside, YES when it's cold. I let any vehicle sit over night or at least a few hours before doing plugs on an aluminum head. I recomend antiseize on the new threads as well. Forgetting about all the people stating various reasons why they do or dont, think about it... a steel plug thread in an aluminum head, then add heat. Threads bond some times, other times corrode. Antiseize solves both, and remember only a fool believes that plugs should be changed at 100kmi. The plug might last 100kmi. but it might shoot out, or bond to the head also.

Plugs blow out of the heads ? Huh, never heard of such a thing.
NO anti -seize - Trust me , you want those plugs to bond, although I never seen that happen in your model. Engine @ room temp before change or you WILL mess up those threads a little.
What I have seen personally, is couple plugs loosen up inside of 10,000 miles w/anti-seize. Cleaning the threads and purchasing a NEW can of Nickle anti-seize didn't help either. Tried Copper and Nickle -No change. except 3 & 4 lost torque.
A well known Tech on this site suggested not using it. He said that he doesn't use it on 4 thread heads.
That worked for me, they stay tight.
BTW- I have thought about it, ALLOT! - Finally, with time, I was able to find out myself what was best.

i thought the heads on my 4.6 were iron?? hmmm u sure they are aluminum??? and the only plug spitting issues i have ever heard of were on the 5.4s... Ive never heard of a plug spitting out of a 4.6 head... Ill prolly end up using antiseze as i have never had a problem with it.. nor have a i ever had a problem not using it.. oh well..
