Are you kidding? They got online with ths site and found out that getting the broken bit out was no problems!!!!

Especially with Quintin's ideas.

Adapt and overcome!! As long as they used plenty of loctite!!

I'm 100% positive I could get it out of there - 30 seconds MAX.

I'm sure it wasn't a problem.

I'm talking about the piece that fell into the cylinder. I use a shop vac attachment - it works great for sucking the cylinders.

Wanna bet ? How much ? I'll go drop a socket ( that's heavier than the piece of the plug we are speaking of) into a cylinder right now and video the extraction , if you make it worth my while - You have Paypal?

You are aware of why and how exactly the new 3V plugs break off and such right? They are not falling "IN" the cylinder, they are breaking in the electrode shield.

A shop VAC would work in the event you are thinking of. Not, in the current situations.

Yes, I have paypal!

LOL

LOL - I'm thinking of it this way - Thru the Spark-plug chamber is a cylinder with a piston in it, along with a piece of plug shrapnel that needs to be removed.

From what I understood the service advisor told me that they were able to lift the engine up some and did not have to take the heads off after all. The tech had a hard angle before so with the engine moved some he was able to get at it better. I"m not positive as I was not there but this is just what the advisor told me.

That's odd but whatever works I guess. I'm about to order some Champions but can't decide if I want to try and change them myself or take it to a dealer. I'm at 50k with an 05'. I'm confident I'll give it more TLC but I don't have any experience with this engine nor do I have any tools should something happen. I'm definitely sick and tired of thinking about this issue. Heck, the fuel injectors pose as serious or worse of consequences than the plugs. I can only woryy about one problem at a time. LOL

That would bother me as well. I know I'd feel allot better updating the injectors and plugs. I would be watching ebay for the injectors and just purchase a set of one piece plugs.

That sucks u-know it.. The 05 should be recalled for the injectors AT LEAST, I thought they were going to at one time.

Funny, just got off the phone with both my local Ford dealers. Haven't talked to them in a few months about the plug issue. I called them to inquire on the price of a plug change, not including the plugs. Told them I was going to purchase the Champion 1 piece plugs. First dealer said it would cost 200 bucks. He didn't have anything negative to say about the champions but then said he didn't know much about them either. He said for the past few months they have been having good success getting the plugs out of the 3v engine in 1 piece. Second dealer said it would be 300 bucks and as soon as I mentioned a plug other than Motorcraft, he went off on a plug bashing tangent, saying anything other than the recommended Motorcraft plug will cause it to run rough, skip, and will mess up the engine eventually, despite me saying these Champions are OEM replacements. Even though I told him the Motorcraft 2 piece plugs were seperating and were the primary cause of the plug breaking problem, he defended them and said they were having no problems getting the plugs out of high mileage 3v engines(90k and up). Said the TSB using a cool engine with the Carb cleaner is doing the trick. I've used this dealer before and I thing I know the guy I was talking with though I didn't ask his name. I think he could cover up the great pyramids if given enough time. I think this later dealer though has the better techs but the service manager, I think, is FOS. It's crazy that I get totally different approaches to a should be simple plug change. Dam-ed if I do, dam-ed if I don't is what I'm getting.

I know where that dealers coming from about Motorcraft plugs "ONLY" Blah, blah, blaaa . He's right in just about every aspect if your talking 2 valve.

You have a 3 valve with F'ed Up "Motorcraft" plug. If Motorcraft is so great, why in the hell didn't THEY make a better replacement plug instead of Champion?

Honeywell/Motorcraft didn't give two sh^ts and they had plenty of time to rectify.

Champion stepped up - Good for them. I would like to see Honeywell go out business - but I doubt that will happen.

Ask that dealer - What makes you think I would want to put ANOTHER set of defective plugs in my motor ? Tell him that you don't really care if the Champions only last 30,000 miles.
At least you know there coming out in one piece.
At least you know you won't have a fight with Ford or the Dealership about who's gonna be responsible for the bill if a Motorcraft breaks.
At least yo know you won't be without your vehicle days on end.
