Optima battery mount

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey I just bought a Optima red top for my 07 F150 and the factory mount doesnt quite hold the battery in place. Does anyone know a better mounting system or what did you do to hold your red top in securely.

P.S. has anyone had any troubles with the factory motorcraft batteries? My truck would not start on a cold 30F morning and sometimes it cranks a second or two longer than normal.

I have a Escort 9500i that I try to unplug most of the time. But today it only sat plugged in for 3 hours and it took a second longer to crank.

Any input is welcome.

The optima should have come with two pieces that snap on the bottom of the battery on the sides. Once you snap those on it fits nice and tight with the stock clamp.

o by the way there is two of those adaptor's one for each side of the battery.

Yup, when they mounted my Optima Red Top, they used two snap on adapters on each side of the battery, that keeps it tight!............

Generally, the Motorcraft OEM batteries are fine and last several years. An Optima is definitely an upgrade though. If you have a lot of aftermarket electronics, a higher capacity battery is always a good idea.

On a rather stupid note to this post.. I put in my optima yellow top battery 2 years ago, and found the same problem that I needed the adapters. However, I lost mine, and figured I'd just pick them up next time I was around autozone.. Two years ago.. I live on a bumpy dirt road, and while I still intend to get those damn adapters, that battery has not budged in 2 years! Its a heavy sucker.

I'm having the exact same problem. I've tested the whole charging system, but everything checks out good. It's charging around 13.4 - 14.1 volts, I guess it depends on how dead the battery was. Then when they test the battery it always comes back as "Good - Low Charge". I thing it might have a bad cell, no matter how much I charge it, it always says the same thing. I was thinking about getting an Optima battery, but when I go to there web site and search by vehicle make/model, it comes up with 14 different batteries for the 07 F150 4x4 XLT 5.4L... Which one is the right battery for my truck???
