just changed mine last saturday. the inlet from the tank took 10 seconds. the oulet took 30 min. I had the tool put it was a pain. You have to push on the fuel line one way and the oppisite way with the tool as hard as you can. I felt a little click and it slide right off after yelling at it for 20 min.

Like "Req" advised, I used the plastic tool w/ WD-40 and it finally released. The metal tool wouldn't work. The clip's going to have be replaced soon. It was a nightmare trying to get it to release.

Simple job that turned into a pain.

Yea , the outlet is the bad one. The plastic tool will get damaged after awhile which makes it even more fun unless you have plenty of those on hand.

This is the best tool for the job IMO -




There's 3 pieces and they rust on there pretty good at times. This filter came off a friends truck. As you can tell - It pi$$ ed me off a little.

heres what i did today taking the fuel tank out today so i could get to my fuel pump the little plastic disk type release tool broke and the closest parts store to me is 26mi so i improvised. its the cut off end of a crazy glue tube with a 1/4" or so section removed from the side it worked like a charm in fact ill most likly keep it in my drawer and not worry about replaceing the little disk thing
