Motor started to knock

Well i just changed the oil started her up and it started knocking. It doesn't start knocking right away but like 10 seconds into startup it will start knocking. I hope it doesn't get any worse cause i cant afford the 3400 dollar bill right now maybe i will try a heavier oil. When i first purchased this truck i put in 10w40 but i later found out it needs 10w30 so my second oil change i put in 10w30 maybe i will try the 10w40 again see if it helps, Any opinions.

no oil in the filter when you went to change it?? thats not good at all. what kind of pressure are u getting?? i had the same symptoms on my dakota. i was getting lousy pressure and was ticking and making all kinds of noises.you can try different weight but.. if that doesnt work you might have to drop the pan. turned out my screen was partially clogged with crap. it had 140k so....but definetely start with a real pressure gauge and see what u get.

Which i can deal with hopefully in the future when i get some money i can replace the motor but until then the f150 lives.

I'm very suprised that the 302 5.0 is having problems at 125,000mi......I have known some friends whom have put well over 200k with no problems at all.................

The last time I seen no oil in the filter it was to late - The motor blew. Actually that's the only time I ever seen that. The oil pump was good, but the pickup screen was totally plugged.

It looked worse than it does in this pic - I scrapped allot of the sh^t off before I took this photo.

Geeez... I don't think I would run it until I found out what's going on. How hard is it to pull the pan on that model ? Do you have to drop the axle ?

I would have to check the screen personally - If it's clear, I would toss that pump in a minute lol. I think it will blow in the very near future running it the way it is IMO .
