PCV assembly replacement

I searched, but could not find much on the actual replacement process of the PCV assembly. I have the 5.4L and there is barely any room for my hand to fit where the tube connects to the back of the intake. I could not just yank the rubber elbow off. Anybody replace their PCV assembly on a 5.4L?
Im not much of a mechanic so details from start to finish would be a tremendous help. (Do I need to take any parts off near the elbow? Do I need to cut off the elbow, etc.?)

Thanks!!!!!

You can't do it by hand because after so many years - it tends to get stuck on there like it was glued. I can get mine off by just removing the plastic shroud over the throttle body. BUT, I remove mine often.

Whens the last time you cleaned the throttle body and elbow? Reason I ask, if you remove that you can get to the PCV connection no problem and cleaning the elbow ports in these things has proved to be very beneficial to the way they run. It's also good preventative maintenance for the EGR system.

Cleaning the TB and Elbow is posted above in the stickies. Heres some pics of what your try to remove; PCV System -

Finally, success. I ended up using my hand and a flat head screwdriver. Thats tight! Anyway, I am going to look up what you suggested about cleaning the TB and elbow. Anything to make the truck run better is worth it.

Thanks for the help!

Yea , I was going to tell use a screw driver - I have before , but I didn't want you to puncture the elbow and then give me hell

Cleaning the MAF sensor is also a big help - Many have reclaimed lost power if they haven't cleaned this sensor before.
