First visit and question

Howdy everyone. Just a general question regarding experiences with gas mileage.

I have a 2006 Supercrew 5.4L Lariat 4x4 auto (6.5' bed) and am getting ~11-13.5 combined mpg. That seems a little low to me although I have owned only 2 (including this one) 4x4 trucks. I like to get to the speed limit without too much delay but seldom floor it (except for the occasional engine cleaning romp to red line in a couple of gears). We have about a 1000' to climb in 5 miles on dirt every time we go to town but figure the downhill probably nulls out some of the climb.

Does that sound right and if you don't mind when/if replying...what is your mpg like?

Mine is about 13.5 to 14.1 depending on how many long miles I put on. Usually daily is about 20 miles, of which 10 are highway and the other 10 is city. 60 MPH on highway, light foot. No mods, 3.73 gears

I am getting between 13 and 14....I have an 06 KR without any engine mods, other than a K&N filter. I do a combination of highway/city everyday and will average 80-90 on the autobahn.

I have an 04 supercrew 4x4 w/ 60k on it and baby it as far as takeoffs and drive the speed limit just to help with gas as much as possible. I was averaging right at 14 for the last 6 months when it was totally stock. I just added the 8" lift and 35's and now get right at 12mpg.
So Id say that your "more than slow starts" and uphill travel would easiliy equal a 12-13 mpg average...Sounds right.

I am getting around 14-16 combined. I would have to say that is resonable.

I get about 11 in the winter when I tow my snowmobiles and about 14 in the summer on the freeway, Its a truck with that big cab. Never going to do well on gas.. I dont think the mileage your getting is bad. Keep your filter clean make sure your tires are filled to the maximum pressure.

hey man your sittin just fine in MPGs. if you want a lil more your gonna wind up spending a bit of money to get just a mpg maybe 2. look at it from this POV, if your mpg gets worse then you might want to look into the truck and see if theres anything wrong.

or you could just do what some of us others do. go to town on it and dont look at the mpgs EVER again.

98 supercab 2wd 4.6 V8 w/ K&N drop-in, 173,xxx on it. My last fill up was 11.5mpg and that was highway and around town driving. I appear to be a little on the low side compared to others. Hmmmm

First visit and question Part II

Sounds like I'm in the ball park on the MPG. I thank everyone for the input up to here. I'm off on a 1500 mile trip soon so that Greyhound bus drafting don't sound too bad. Gota find one doin' ~80 mph though (there goes my MPG, Ha).

For ibcop.
I should take the Audi. Traded an A6 4.2 Sport Pack for first truck! Wifes got an A4 she ordered and tracked from day one. Couldn't trade that one! One ship before hers sank, taking many Audis with it. Sad day.

Wish I had the larger tank. This one was off the lot and has the 27. Sure seems to go down fast, Ha.

Thanks again everyone!
