changing fuel filter
My 02 F150 uses a 5/16ths fuel line disconnect tool to get that filter off.
You don't need to bleed the pressure off. My rig was pressurized and only a few drops came down. After disconnecting the fuel filter, plug the ends of the filter to prevent more fuel from spilling out.
Just be patient, it can be time consuming the first time

The time I spent in the military working on aircraft instilled attention to detail and safety procedures. Depressurizing the fuel system prior to disconnecting anything is a safety procedure. The book would not recommend it if it didn't matter. Do what you want on your own truck, but it's irresponsible to tell other people that it doesn't matter and that they are chickensh1t if they bother to do it. There is a hazard POTENTIAL here.
You just change it. I'm telling you, there will be no pressure. Just the normal runout from the line and the filter. have a rag handy, grab the ends and tilt them.

I've done mine 23 times lol - Nah , I don't relieve pressure at the rail anymore since it never made a bit of difference. It does say to do so in the manual, so do as you will. I believe the pressure hold time is measured in the first 5 minutes after shut down. It bleeds off pretty quick after that. I'll have to test that on the gauge next time I test the pump.
My daughter did hers not to long ago. She didn't relieve the pressure because I didn't tell her to. - Guess that makes me irresponsible, BUT, didn't realize this may be an attempt to raise her not to be such a chicken sh^t

This took me 15 minutes to do. I was more paranoid than anything else. I drove the truck home from work. I did some other chores I had to do around the house. I let it sit for about and hour- hour and a half. When i pulled the forward fuel line a little bit of gas came out. Nothing big by any means. I used the tool on the forward line and almost didnt need it. The rear line had a little bit more gas come out. The tool is needed there to pop the orange clip. Honestly this was one of the easiest things to do in the world. I cant believe how paranoid about this I was.
