stripped spark plug hole

hello everyone i have a 97 with a 4.6 and a year after i changed the plugs the #4 cylinder decided to spit the plug out and it took the threads with it. I put the threadsaver thing in it but it is missing pretty bad at lower rpm's. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated

Is this what you used to fix the threads? http://www.timesert.com/html/triton_repair.html

It sounds like you are in need of a tune up (plugs and wires) and possibly new coil packs wouldn't hurt it any. My four six goes through plugs and wires every 60K miles and as always, use MOTORCRAFT plugs and wires. You can get a set of coil packs for under 100 bucks. This is what I used. http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,.../selectZip.htm

When changing the plugs, take it slow, and, do it when the motor is cold.

You will find a wealth of info on this subjuct using the search tool above. Good luck and keep us posted.

Time for an engine upgrade, OR....

Another truck?.... BUT as far as an upgrade, you can do a PI swap now and justify it. Or keep in mind that you could have either a Romeo or windsor motor, and could drop in another one of either type much newer from a car cheaply. For some reason there is alot of BS reguarding using a car 4.6 motor in a truck. The only differences are the intake and oil pan/pickup. Cams and everything else are the SAME. Just upgrade the balancer if it's one with no meat on the front.
NOTE mid-03 and up have eight threads in the aluminum for the plug while earlier motors only have 3-4 threads.

well, my dad bought the truck new and i got it when he passed away so i cant bring myself to get rid of it. the repair manual i got says it has the romeo motor. would the heads off a mustang fit and/or offer a performance gain. other than the sparkplug threads the motor is in good shape, and has always been well maintained.

Did you by chance happen to change the plug wires when you did the plug change last time? Being as it is #7 as well, you can't really blame anything on the timesert not sealing.

This is not a "GET ANOTHER MOTOR" problem. The heads would be an option, but, simply and cost effectively, tracking down the culprit will be the best way to go.

Once the facts are narrowed down, you are bound to find an answer on here and a solution. A "POSITIVE SOLUTION" that is.

New wires same time as plugs, about 30-40,000 miles ago. The thread repair kit i got said to use silicone gasket sealer. loctite would have probably been better.

Did you change the corresponding plug wire? I might have been damaged upon ejection of the plug. The wires were not designed to be pulled or stretched.
