Need Help Please 1998 F150 4.2 engine
Please if anyone can help I would be very thankful. About two weeks ago the check engine light comes on I check the code to lean so I replace both upstream and both down stream, same code so I put new plugs, pvc, clean mass air flow sensor, replaced a few vacum hose's Check ERG and replaced the gas cap. Now after all that work at idle it feels rough and when driving it feels rough, and now when i'm at a loght the idle drops really low to almost where it wants to stall. Now to day i'm getting the codes p1 151 p1 131 o2sensor circuit low voltage and last po156 o2 sensor circuit malfunction but the check engine light never came on? The codes 171 and 174 are gone.
P0131 Heated O2 Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 1)
P0151 Heated O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2, Sensor 1)
P0156 Heated O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2, Sensor 1)
How many Drive-cycles has it been since the install, ? Is it driven every day - or maybe just 4 times in the last two weeks. How many Drive-cycles roughly?
Clean up the forward sensors you pulled out and re-install them. Disconnect the battery first.
BTW - You did disconnect the battery the first time right ? If not , try that and reboot , but I doubt that's the problem. It sounds like you installed the wrong sensors unless your careless as hell and chaffed the wires. The wires on the O2's are sensitive as hell..
Yea , I bet you have the wrong ones in there. What make and numbers are on the sensors you installed. I believe the rears very in part numbers , but they are interchangeable on the older models.
Need some more info on those sensors to figure it out.
Turn your key to the run position - See if your check engine light is working.

After checking all wires and cleaning points of contact, system is working great. The only wrong part were the spark plugs it turn out i was sold the wrong ones so the only thing i need to replace is the speed idle control valve. And as far the the lean codes as well as all the others all gone.
