Mis fire only when engine is under load

ok here goes im home on leave from iraq my truck sat for 5 months while i was gone. Right before i left i had a jasper engine put in it. Now for the difficulty the engine has 2,000 miles on it it ran fine for about a day, then all of a sudden misfire, not misfiring when in park or neutral but as soon as u shift it in to gear let the fun begin. I kno that the 4.6l is suppose to have motorcraft plugs however i kno that when jasper sent the engine they sent autolite plugs. That is what the mechanic installed. Before i got to frustrated with it i pulled a few of the plugs to look at them, they all for the most part looked fine however when i pulled one of the cop's it came out wet with water, i used a air gun cleaned out the cylinder replaced the boot and the coil and plug replaced it. It straightened up for a half hour now the problem is back. Any ideas please

When you say you took a few plugs out meaning you didn't inspect them all, right? Just 1 will give you fits like that.

I would say the COP's are giving you the trouble, but, would advise putting in a set of motorcraft to make sure. I have never had any luck out of autolites, some have, so, it is a hit and miss. I can only report my experience.

I will also add, this is a FORD. They DO NOT act too well after sitting for a long period of time. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to let it idle for a couple of hours in the driveway. I have seen problems like this disappear in FORDS that have been sitting for a long time.

Was the vehicle sitting for a long period with the same gas in it and no sta-bil added? Might be fuel problems and a fuel filter may help. Good luck

if it sat for a few months, im going to say its a "bad gas" problem. change the filter and fill the tank with good gas

OK i noticed that you said that you got WATER out of one of the coils!! Bad stuff. If there is water in your cops then you need to make sure all of them do not have water. That will cause the truck to run like dirt... Did you wash your engine bay or something?? Im just wondering how the water got there??????

yeah take the COP's out get compressed air and blow the water out *while the spark plug is still in So you dont get water on the piston* This used to happend to me when ever id go mudding Crap would get down in the spark plug chabers and cause a mis-fire...Just got some compressed air and blew it out and it ran fin. then pull the spark plugs.... Id say get new plugs while your at it... Ford engines dont like autolites too much i had 2 cyls misfire after only 7,000 miles when i put autolites in my 97 4.6L. i put in motorcrafts been running fine for 15,000 But thats your call.
