I think theres two on the 4x4 - Yea stock u-joints never had them , I'm still running those. Funny thing is - The manuals/DVD's say my CVC joint is serviceable by injecting grease. This is false on my 98 . I pulled the shaft and even wire wheel where the ports are suppose to exist. Nope! I just don't have them.

Apparently , I don't need them lol .

When I think "chassis lube" I think of my Toyota 4X4. 8 greasable zerks. Still can't get use to just 2 on my Ford. Be interesting to see how many miles I can put on the u-joints before they go. Got 434K+ on the Yota originals with zerks and greased every 5K.

 

Like in "Zerks" man - I have 2 up front. dats it...

 

Come to think of it, I think it's the idler arm (not the pitman) that has one on mine, it must have been replaced before I got the truck. It's either that or one of the tie rod ends.

Klitch, the gas is a wash - 2 round trips to Autozone (get the oil and filter, then dump the waste oil) versus one round trip to the oil change joint. Oil change joint is next town over. I'll combine it with my other errands anyway.
