What kind of engine did I get?????????

First off, I have an 05 F150 FX4 Supercab. Long story short. I threw a rod back in Oct. It had 57K on it at the time. I had bought the truck 8k miles before that so imagine my frustration.

So the dealer replaced the stock 5.4L short block with a long block because I managed to fry the cylinder head at the same time. The original was a 5.4L FFV. I can't find anywhere on my paperwork if the new engine is also a FFV. Does anyone know where this might be located?

I know the dealer took the six of the seven good head and placed them in the new block. Their theory was that is was better to replace the head that was needed and the one opposite it.

Are you saying they took one head off your old engine? if thats the case I would have to think its oem replacement on the other side. Block would have to be oem to. How did you manage to throw a rod? Thats a pretty rare event.

if they changed just the long block your engine will still be FFV. It is the components connected to the engine on the fuel delivery side and computer that make it FFV.

I don't know how I threw the rod. Was just driving in traffic and badda-bing, badd-a-bang. As far as I can tell from the paperwork, I have 6 original cylinder heads, and two brand new ones. A new fuel rail and spark plugs, new catalytic converters. Only took them two months to get it right. It was a hell of a 60k mile check-up.

I have noticed that my fuel mileage dropped from around 16ish to 13ish. That one hurt a bit.

Side note to tell all your friends. The stock spark plugs are intended to last for 100k miles. If they are not replaced between 55k-65k, then they corrode a bit and typically break off when your trying to remove them. THat sounds like it would make for some serious fun later on.

Thanks for your help guys.

6 of the original cylinder heads? What are you refering to? The truck has a left and right cylinder head, only two of them.

Sounds like they rebuilt the engine and replaced a couple of pistons.
