Engine screech on start up - cold mornings.

On mornings colder than 50 or so (Hey! That's cold here in Florida!) when I first start the 95 5.0 up there is an initial chirp/screech that goes away almost instantly. On warmer mornings, or on cold days when it has not sat all day it doesn't happen.

I just did an oil change with valv. 5/30, lucas treatment, and motorcraft filter.

It did this before the oil change as well.

The motor has 180k on it. I don't believe it's the belt (that whistles and chirps all the time ).

Any ideas? Bearings galling on start up?

Thanks

Too hard to "guess" at it, best advice would be to pop the hood and listen to it while somone else starts it up.

I'm thinking it is probably your belt.

Thanks everyone,

I figured it would be one of those questions but had to ask. I'll see if I can isolate it.

Mine has a squeel on cooler mornings...I tracked it down to the compressor, tho that didn't make me feel better

get a goodyear gatorback belt......$35 and it will most likely go away. Mine was doing the same thing but hard to say without actually seeing it in person. Either way, a belt is always a good investment.
