Engine swap
At one point the dyno showed 370hp at the wheels with the 9 lbs pulley. It has been detuned to 313 rwhp with the 12 lbs pulley. My MAF is maxed out and the local tuner is using failed MAF tables to run the engine. Going through the 5 speed and t-case I figure 60 hp loss. the Blower probably takes another 50 with the 12lbs pulley. I also have 3.55 gears and 33 inch tires. So 313+60+50 = 423 at the crank. I expect this tranny to last about an other 6 months or so. I have lost count how many transmissions that I have blown up. It is at least 5.
The nice thing about the Procharger is that the boost comes on late. That might be saving the tranny as there is no sudden on slot of power. Still at 2500 rpm in 1stt I can break the tires free.

- Your an animal
Damn , did any of them go because of fluid contamination? Water maybe? Or just to much dang pressure?

I be hard on transmissions.
No water no contamination. The input shaft bearing is the weak point. Too much torque and it allows the input shaft to move and that causes the teeth to spread apart. After a while the teeth chip and it is game over. I remember once hearing this horrendous BANG on the highway.
That was one of the teeth chipping and getting caught between the input shaft teeth and the intermediate shaft teeth. I drove it like that for 6 months. The tranny was pooched so I didn't care. JMC

Later that week I threw my 38's on her, put the heavy a$$ 44's in the back, hooked up to a uhaul trailer with an Iroc Z on the back and headed for Daytona. I made it all the Florida when the rear end went. It was full of Michigan swamp water
- It was cheaper to replace with a Ford 9" than it was to go back to stock.I was surprised , I ran it about 14 hundred miles @ highway speeds pulling about 4-5000 lbs. I had my 44's in the bed along with a sh^tload of tools, not to mention a car + transport trailer hooked to the reese
I had to remove the rear shaft and run on the front for awhile. It would bind w/rear shaft attached. Luckily , it didn't bind once removed or I would have had bigger problems.

jbrew,
That is a sweet rig. I like that syle. I have done the same to three 8.8 rear diffs in the 00 and one in the 97.
Once I was crossing an intersection in town and after the bang I had to put it in 4Lo to drag it across the street. This happened on a Saturday night. I saw Neal driving on the other side of the street and I was jumping, waving my arms and screaming. I didn't notice me. He gets tunnel vision when he drives....... I now have a 9.75 in its place.

Damn , he didn't see yuh huh , how did yuh getter back home ? That front drive shaft has kept me from getting stranded a few times. I've snapped/twisted the rear shaft quite a bit back then. 12" of lift and I never repositioned the pivot angle , so the third member and drive shaft never really got along. It was a sweet truck in it's day , but those ground hawgs(44's) were hard as hell on it. It wasn't much for speed , but I could go just about anywhere in low lock
I sold that soon after my 98 arrived.

I'm not sure what you hope to achieve by that comment, but I doubt it will be much.
So my trans wont hold to 400 tq at the crank your saying? so there are some swap options out there, its not a 4x4
I might choose to build up the essex and pound it withforced induction with a stronger block and stronger internals, no one has really done it and you dont see a bad *** v6 rollin around ever, its unique so i might try it, the 5.4 would be the easisst and cheapest way to power though, with more potental to get to 500's
i want to get my truck in the 12's

As yours is a 4x2 I would check the Mustang boards to see what tranny they are using. The t56 has a removable bellhousing and I think I saw a bellhousing that will match your bolt pattern.Regards
