Update i got laid off im broke and still need to buy sending unit and fuel pump. been lookin for a job with no luck. and those shiny tips keep sitting in there box's :(

took off my plate one day to put the spring loaded thing in there and i need to drill some new holes in my bumper and in my plate. turns out back in the day had a diff plate bolt pattern. that wont be hard thoe.

ya chrmar i dont know what there prob is. i have a hitch back there so its got just as much frame as the side mount. plus you ever seen semi truck gas tanks? its right out in the open as a step.

Also the excurtions i belive still run a tank back there.

so how large is the bronco tank compared to the F-150 tank???

shifty_85 05-15-2010 09:14 PM

33 gallon.

been unemployed and cannot collect unemployment so no money for this project but once i get a job ill try and get on this again.

ok its finally gonna happen im getting lots of money back from income tax so i will have more than enough to finally finish this project and throw my tips on.

Anyone recommend a type of fuel pump that will have enough PSI for my 4.6?

shifty_85 01-15-2011 02:11 AM

would this pump work to supply my 4.6L with fuel? i know it has a max of 85 psi i think these motors work in the 35-50 range if i recall.

yeah that one should work on your truck as it is now, it sure wouldn't work on mine but it should work on yours until you add some more power

shifty_85 01-15-2011 01:06 PM

sweet thanks Tarajerame! ya says its good to 500hp im no where near that.

stoffer 01-16-2011 03:51 AM

my only problem with fuel cells is every time I look, I find the guys that just bolt it into the bed :(

Talk about not being able to use a truck for what its meant for at that point.

shifty_85 01-20-2011 02:03 PM

yeah for a while i was looking for my buddy to weld me up a huge take in the back of my bed but i scraped that idea.

i know im gonna get flamed for this but i really dont know the diff between lets say a 10gal fuel cell and a 10 gal gas tank???

there's a couple running around with the fuel cells in place of the factory spare tire and that's what I'm gonna do

shifty_85 01-20-2011 03:21 PM

Well heres another prob. heres the sending unit im looking at.

http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...lon-85-86.html

i know theres no breather on the top of it theres a hole in the other side of the tank for a breather.

but the OHMs that sending unit works at are 60 to 0.
and i think the ohms my truck works at is 14-160. so if i just connect my wires that i have for my sending unit now it wont read right on that sending unit will it??

what do i have to do to fix this prob?

Also for that fuel pump i can cut my stock fuel pump wires and wire it to the inline pump and it will come on when i turn the key right?

stoffer 01-20-2011 03:36 PM

yup the wiring should do it, I have no idea about the ohms... but that's another reason I want to run a fuel cell, so I can use my stock pump hat and emissions crap
