IAC Problem / rubbing noise?

Hey guys I have a 2002 4.6L with a K&N FIPK2 and Troyer tuning...I think that I have a problem with the IAC because it is making the groaning noise when I let off or at small throttle positions, it sounds like a few other people on here said that they had this issue and was caused by the IAC. So here is my stupid question: what does IAC stand for? I am guessing that it is Inlet Air Control valve or something similar, and I know that it has something to do with the intake system. Also can I clean it or do I need to replace it? Where is it located? I have already cleaned the MAF, but not sure about the IAC. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think the IAC noise is from the removal of the little plastic box which is a noise muffler essentially. I'm unaware if it is being noisy, if it is dirty or needs to be replaced or what. I know mine made a horrible groan when mine was removed.
