i have a 1988 ford f150. just got it. when i got it it ws running but the guy said it had no gas so he didnt leave it running. taking it home it stalled out. took it to a shop they said new atl. and battery , so i had them put it in. sences then i ut in a new master cil. new boost, new dis. cap, plugs , wires. still stalling out on me.
the guy put in a rebuilt egn in it not shore on the size how can i tell????
it looks like a barrle and dont know the yr
running out of parts to check amd money!!!

Very confusing to read.

I would advise you call ole' dude up that you bought the truck from and ask about motor specs and all. Sounds like the truck wasn't left running because he knew it was screwed up from the get go. None the less, find out the motor specs, and I would say maybe a fuel filter or pump problem. The distributor could also be bad. I saw where you put a new cap on it, did you put a button on at that time as well?

I might also advise you to look up the local lemon law in your state. See if you are still in the timeframe of getting retrobution or at least part of your money back!

When it stalls how long before it will restart? You need to check and see if you have spark through the spark plug wires during that time when it won't start. If you have no spark during that time, it's likely one of three things that are common failures on this vintage of Fords. First you need to do that spark check.
