I Need Major Help

Lately my truck's gas pedal has been sticking (I accelerate and it just stays acclerated when i release it). It does not happen eveytime I drive only a fraction of the time. I realize that the problem is with the throttle valve/throttle body but im not sure why it is doing this. Has this ever happened to anyone before and does anyone know how to fix it?

After you clean it. Is the carpet/floor mat in the way? Missing a return spring?
Dirty throttle body?

Get under the hood and see what's sticking when the pedal is pushed, then like above, clean it.

You just had two of the most knowledgeable guys on the site give you advice and IMO you should definitely follow it. Is the pedal returning to you while the truck accelerates or is it staying on the floor. I know you said release but I wasn't sure what that entailed. Pull that plastic manifold cover off and look at your spring. Do you have an open air induction or anything? I am just trying to figure out how the spring would get so dirty, or perhaps it just crapped out. Let us know what you find.

Yeah, as Gibson said, it is a 2001. The pedal isnt getting hung up on the carpet because I have pulled the pedal back with my hands and it just keeps accelerating. Ive also noticed that after I shut off the motor the pedal will unstick about 20 minutes later.

The throttle plate is probably binding in the throttle body due to crud or misalignment.

Completely different, but I had an ATV stick wide open(not fun). There was dirt being pulled into one of the cables and it jammed.
