k, im just bored out of my mind a work and i was reading that guys post about how he cant get his last 2 COPs off and i just got to thinking. Which do you guys think is better....The Coil On Plug setup or the 2 coil packs setup? it seems to me that the coil pack setup is better because you dont have to mess around with that stupid bolt that hold the COP down..thats just my opinion, what do u guys think?
lol after hearing all the COP probs im so happy i have coil packs i dont mind messing with the wires at all...and they add a lil flash if you have nice red MSD wires like you do Jr. but yeah id rather have coil packs that COP's i dont care if the spark is a lil less hotter i dont have to unbolt the stuiped things outta there place...just a lil tug on the wire and POP and put the socket in hole and pull out the plug
just my opion thoe if it was up to me my truck would have a distrubtor cap and rotor

I'm in favor of my LS-1 based Trans Am design, where the coil was mounted on top of the valve cover and easily accesible, and the spark plug was where it SHOULD BE! Down below the valve cover near the exhaust!
BTW, i am the dork he is refering to who can't get the last two off. I will try again this weekend...

I'll take coil packs and wires any day. New technology can be both your friend and your enemy. The only COP system I've worked on that I like is the GM DOHC 4 banger - disconnect one multiconnector, take out 4 (?) bolts, and lift the whole top cover off, voila, 4 spark plugs staring you in the face.
I like the COP's design for a few reasons.
The Coil location is over the plugs and out of the way.
NO plug wires to contend with.
Overall, a much cleaner set up that I haven't had a problem with.
The down fall - People who don't read directions and who aren't familiar with removing and re-installing COP can run into problems - Spark plugs as well.
I'm referring to the 97-03 models only. I wouldn't purchase a FORD truck 04 and up - This spark plug F-Up of theirs has screwed to many people over. Pi$$ poor engineering period.
Also, the coil bolts have broke in the past from overtightening them. That happens allot. Coils are allowed to move on the bushings. There's not much torque used -

+1. And I seriously doubt the spark is any better from COP's. MSD now makes the coil packs and like you said, nothing beats a nice fat set of good looking plug wires IMO.

what...no one else has a preference. or you just dont wanna reply?
