Foaming the Motor

A friend recommended I foam my motor. He says it'll smooth out anything rough with the idle and clean any carbon build up. With 182,000 miles on the motor, should I do this? Has anyone done this?

i think what you are talking about is a motor vac. i have done this to my truck and it ran much better. it had 257000 miles on the motor when i did it. it also helps temporarily with blow byes.

hes talking about sea foam you can buy it at autozone or similar.

its totally safe, but decide for yourself and use the search theres prolly a million posts on the subject in both directions. But basicly all you do is take off the pcv hose and VERY SLOWLY pour the bottle into the engine, the vaccum from the hose will do most of the work for you. If the engine starts to bog just stop pouring for a second and let it catch up. if the engine stalls while using the stuff bad things can happen (vaporlock/ hydrolock). when the bottle is empty shut the engine off and let it sit 5 minutes. take your time and enjoy smoking out the neighborhood after your done. its seriously ALOT of smoke, you truck will prolly smoke for 10 mins after you start it.

I just purchased a 2001 Expedition with 125000 and the last owner had Ford do an intake cleaning. I was disappointed when I went to Seofoam it that it was cleaner than I would have done. I wanted to tear something apart. I just wouldnt want to pay what they did.
