Autolite has released a new plug as well. Not sure if is still a two piece design or not.

LMAO! I feel your pain all to well. I had to go get me an external mose to remedy that. We all know the beer can't be compromised, so, the PC is the only next solution. LOL

I have been studying the new autolite plug too. Maybe Honeywell has listened.

Well I made the call today for those who are interested to the Technical Hotline...

Basically in a nutshell they don't have an answer to what the "fix" is either. He told me straight up that the plant engineers have not even elaborated to them what has been done other than it doesn't apply to the 10/07 build date..... He did tell me that the latest plug number is PZT-14F and we should be using these and that there have not been any cases of them seizing....HOWEVER, they have only been in service for about 4or 5 months and were not introduced to correct the seizing problem but more to assist with high RPM/Load engine miss concerns along with poor fuel quality concerns....so of course there are no reports of them seizing yet....funny thing is I got our parts guy to look up plugs for an 06 and their catalog doesn't list the PZT-14F but still has the PZT-1F listed. We were able to find some though one of our Motorcraft vendors and I got them ordered for tomorrow....I'll take a good look at them to see what is different and I will measure the part at the end that is getting seized with my micrometers to see if they increased the clearances...I'm going to be the guinea pig and stick them in my truck...some guys over at the Mustang forums have already found out about the 14F's too it seems...I guess the 4.6 modular 3valves are also having some issues......I was really hoping for a better answer for you all but that's about the best I can come up with for now...I'll keep updating as I find out more......

About a month ago, I replaced my Autolite's HT1's with Motorcraft PZT-14F's. Before the Autolite's, I had a combination of PZT-2F's and PZT-1F (stupid dealer changing some, but not all)... Anyway, the PZT-14F's have the shield cut a little higher from the electrode versus the PZT-1F or PZT-2F or HT1's. Kinda hard to describe the difference, but definately different.



EDIT: Ok, I found some pics for comparison. They are from Autolite's website, but they look identical to the Motorcrafts.



Motorcraft PZT-14F and/or Autolite HT15:





Motorcraft PZT-1F and/or PZT-2F and/or Autolite HT1:




As you can see, the shield is longer on the older plugs, and is cut higher on the newer ones.

This will be great!! - And very interesting. The plugs you guys are referencing are still a pieced together design I gather, correct ? Vrs. , a one piece design that's hopefully in near future.

The HT15 is one heat range hotter than the HT1. That's probably the only difference you are going to find between the 2 Motorcraft numbers. Makes sense according to the pics - those 15's have a lot more tip exposed. I read in another thread where a member called Autolite and they told him about the heat range difference.

Finally some truth behind the myth of a design change. Now people don't have to "think" or "assume" there was a design change.

I would say, that the reason for the heat difference in the 2 autolites are just for the exact reason FordTech1 mentioned. Hotter for less than perfect fuel quality and such. Honestly, if the fuel is burning hotter, the less amount or carb buildup will be there. Makes sense to them wanting to put a hotter plug in.

Thanks a million FordTech1 for clearing the air on the rumors.

No problem......

The 10/07 build date just happens to be about 4-5 months from the time frame I was told the plugs have been in service.....it all makes sense....My only concern is on the spark plug removal bulletin there is no mention of using these....( 14F's) You would think that they would want to put these in service ASAP if there is that much of a problem.

The way I read into it, the change was made to correct misfiring, not removal issues.

That is correct....but the engineer did say to start using that part number for all of them....04 and up 3v's. If having a hotter plug in is making the removal easier then you would think they would want them in service....like I mentioned earlier though, they haven't been in service but for a short time so there is probably not any solid proof yet that they won't stick....just my 2 cents...
