The 4.6 tows fine for occasional towing IMO. I have a '97 SC 2wd with the long wheel base with 3.55 gears. I pull heavy cars (4000 lbs) on a heavy (1400 lbs) open car trailer. It pulls fine and accelerates ok. I do lose a few mph on uphill sections at expressway speeds even at wot. Since I'm a flatlander at close to sea level it doesn't affect me much. 4.6's with PI heads or a lighter truck should run better. If you live near hills or pull heavy enclosed trailers, the 5.4 would be a better choice, but the 4.6 will do more than most people give it credit for.

then I am being passed by Chevy guys towing
there boats. It doesn't impress my wife either.
