Holy Crepes! - 2005 blow engine - 63k
Holy Crepes! - 2005 blow engine - 63k
Man, I just heard the most nightmarish news from the dealer - blown engine - with only 63k miles on it. He says the engine has no or low compression on 1-4 and that they don't really know why, just that it needs a new engine.
I have an f1-50 supercrew fx-4 that has had the oil religiously changed, all maintenance performed and babied. Can't imagine why an engine would just blow.
Heres what happened, I was on the freeway the other day and the engine started sputtering, and then hacking and coughing and I barely limped it off the freeway. Towed to the dealership since I was 120 miles from home.
Upon some basic research, my mechanic is telling me there is a TSB that involves low compression and that it may have to do with faulty plugs or injectors. I did have an injector assembly replaced at 30k under warranty
Anybody got any ideas?

Could have had a faulty injector that caused you to burn up a valve or 12, leading to further damage.
I just had 4 injectors done under warrenty at 30k on my 2005 lariat. The bad injector burnt up a valve on cyl 7 and caused me to need a new head.
It may be of interest to you that Ford just extended the warrenty on the injectors on the 2005 5.4L.

Wow, that sounds familiar. I had a bad inj replaced at 30k. This sounded like the same problem and I had noticed a slight skip a few days before.
