bent harmonic balancer

i brought my 97 f150 with a 4.6l into a shop today because ive been having problems blowing serpentine belts. they said the harmonic balancer was bent and would need replaced. they wanted $675 to do it so i took my keys and walked out. ive wanted underdrive pullies for a while and was wondering if this would fix the problem cuz the crankshaft pulley is also known as a harmonic balancer right?. im a little confused because i was searching and in a thread about asp underdrive pullies the guy said he had to buy a harmonic balancer. if i do this i would like the troyer pullies so would those fix this?

Correct, harmonic balancer is cognitively known as the crankshaft pulley. Also that price you got quoted is totally too high! I had mine replaced for like $150. Its not hard to replace if you have a puller and lift.
