po102 still on.
po102 still on.
ok i searched the forums and can not find a clear fix for my po102 code i get from my 98 exp. sport v6. i have replaced the MAF and still the light is on 2 weeks later and 100 MI. so what to do??
What are you talking about? exp? An Escort EXP ? Do you mean Explorer a 4.0 ? Expedition V6 ? Is there such a thing ??? The least you could do is be more descriptive - I hate guessing? Did you reboot ? What have you done so far? Where did you get the MAF ? Did you check the wires? Did you do all the easy stuff?

Reguardless of what motor, the code is the same.
The air meter has an open in the harness or a bad air leak right close to the meter.
Pays to diagnose the problem before buying parts and not just go with a code as the basis of buying parts to try.
That's why your here now!

Ok the explorer belongs to a friend of mine who asked me to look on-line to help them out so what they told me was it is a 98 explorer sport with a v6 and auto zone is the one who told them to replace the MAF so they did and there still haveing the problem. How do you reboot OBD2?? Auto zone wont do it with thier code reader i asked? Sorry i looked back and see i was very short in my discription hope this helps. The MAF mounts to the side of the air cleaner housing so were do i start looking for a leak? as far as a disconect is there a test for the wire harness?

Well the MAF's in a bad location on that year . There's not much clearance at all. If the hood is slammed to hard or out of alignment it could come in contact with the MAF. Make sure the plastic housing isn't cracked . The last one I worked on had a 1/4 hole in the housing from that.
Check the wires as well .. Are you absolutely sure about that fault code # ? That's usually a bad sensor indicator or wiring harness problem..
I'm not sure about the voltage/resistance that might isolate fault. Bluegrass might know or you could get a service manual from Auto Zone (they carry them for around $20) for the numbers and procedure as far as that goes.. That's all I can do for yuh from here..
Good luck

You can clear it that way - I would probably wipe the KAM and see if the code comes come back again . A fault like that would come back quick.
First visually inspect for the obvious . Then disconnect the battery (both sides). Even though the MAF is new , clean it anyway. There's two towers in there, you'll know what I mean when you look at it. Clean it good and if it's been at least 15 minutes, reconnect the battery POSITIVE FIRST then your neg. That will reboot and reset trims and tables.
Check what Bluegrass mentioned above - very experianced guy!!
Good Luck
