resistance in an IAC valve

I tested an IAC valve's continuity and it showed 10omhs resistance.....is this allowable in a 1997 4.6l f-150?

Ford service manual states the resistance should be between 6.0 and 13.0 ohms. I would say that yours is right where it should be. You also want to measure between each pin and the case of the IAC valve, that reading should be greater than 10,000 ohms.

Nothing wrong with testing your IAC's continuity, but they usually don't fail electrically - They will commonly lock up when bad. The internal mechanicals get sticky from carbon deposits, rust or some other foreign matter resulting in cold start idle issues.
