2000 F150 Startup Issue
2000 F150 Startup Issue - Please Help Me
This is probably a common question isn't it?
To make a long story short, my truck had an issue starting up a few weeks ago.
I had to turn off the key, then turn it on a few times, then the truck would start. Each time I tried to start it the motor would turn, so I doubt it is the PATs system.
Now the truck will not start at all when it turns over. I have to jump start my truck. Sometimes for a brief second I can here the truck try turn over, then it wont.
The only sound that I hear is the fuel rail firing up. I cannot hear the fuel pump either.
What have I done?
1) Of course, changed the fuel filter.
2) Replaced a couple of vaccum lines that were almost corroded.
3) Replaced the cam sensor.
4) Checked all fuses. Good to go. Replaced the black relay for the fuel pump just in case.
** I do notice that sometimes my instrument panel odemeter will not come on. I wonder if this could be an issue???
The theft light sometimes would come on too...a strange clicking sound could be heard behind the fuse panel a few times. I have read the my PATs system may have erased my keys? Is there a way to check that?
I am dreading the replacement of my fuel pump. I am trying to do everything I can without taking off my bed and doing it.
Anything else that I can check?
You guys rock.

A bad battery will have that effect..
Keep in mind the fuel rail shuts down after 5 -6 seconds of cranking to protect your cats. I found that out after upgrading injectors.
