Leaky Schrader's valve

Good afternoon folks -

'98 F150 5.4 4x4 165k
It has been some time since the last post but this is a good one. The ol'ford was stalling and idling poorly at intersections. A buddy suggested maybe it was a fuel pump since his truck did the same thing prior to replacing his fuel pump. So i went down to autozone and purchased a fuel gauge to check the fuel pressure.

Fortunately, it was not the fuel pump since it was reading 35 psi, so i ran my scanner for grins and giggles - and the following codes were returned P0171 and P0174. Upon doing additional research, I discovered the rubber elbow from the PCV hose connecting in the back of the intake was nonexistent.

I replaced the elbow, cleared the codes, removed the fuel gauge, and took her for a test run...... During the test run, I could smell fuel, so i returned home ASAP.

The schraders valve was leaking fuel. Is there a way to fix this without replacing the entire fuel rail? Has this occurred to anyone else when using a fuel gauge?

Any and all insight is greatly appreciated.

just a thought:
Just to be safe, releive fuel rail pressure however you do it.
Try to reseat the schraeder valve, using the adapter you used to check fuel pressure. and if that does'nt work, try a valve stem tool. If that dont do it, a small phillips screwdriver to jimmy the schraeder valve up and down a couple of times. i belive these are worth a try other than gettin a new fuel rail!
oh yeah, NO SMOKIN!

i've never looked inside at the schrader, if there are threads inside it like a tire valvestem it can be replaced.
if there are no threads prolly have to replace the rail.
i would fiddle with it for awhile just to see if i could get some trash inside it to loosen up

Yea , the schrader is just like and intertube stem set up - it unscrews with a valve stem tool.

Here is an update thus far -
I have placed the fuel gauge back on and off.... still leaking.
Suppressed the valve with an nail a couple times to no avail.

It is getting dark and the Suns are playing tonight so I will venture to the dealer tomorrow and see what, if any, parts are replaceable on the schrader valve.

I will post an update midday tomorrow.....

Thanks for your input and keen insight about no smokin'.

As always thank you!!!!

One more note - I have placed a SS or aluminum tire cap to minimize the leakage.

Go to the auto parts store and get a tirevalve stem removal tool and a new valve stem and swap them out.
