hey guys,

i went to the mall today, came out and as i was leaving from idle i had no power steering...once i rev up the rpms it kicks in, if i am going down the road and take my foot off the gas to idle rpm range i lose it again...

never had this problem before, i am hoping its just my fluid level (it was dark i wont get a chance to check until tomorrow morning) i just wanted to make sure i dont have to start looking for a new pump, please let me know what u think

edit:: i have a 2002 f150 4x4 with the 4.6

 

If you have excessive whining I would suggest getting draining the pump and filling it with new fluid. If that doesn't fix her, then replace it. If the fluid level is proper I would expect the pump to work.
Let me know what you find.

 

the whine is not excessive...not anymore than when i got it in june and it was fine then...the fluid was still in the "ok" zone but i topped off...seemed to help still a bit resistive tho
