Ford recommended I fix the Factory induction setup....I was lost becuase I THOUGHT that's what I had.
I can't frkn believe this..........I picked up a factory induction system from a junkyard and installed it in the truck a year ago. I had an after market when I bought the truck and chucked the original. That being said, i never paid attention to the fact that there is a plenum that the MAF is attached to in the airbox. Mine from the junkyard was rigged with the MAF being held in place by a rubber coupling that was literally wedged into the end of the airbox......I went back to the yard and got the correct airbox this past weekend. No more lean codes, however I am still dealing with the motor stumbling when I shift to drive. It doesn't act up when the truck is cold, only when I get up to operating temperature. If anyone can explain, I need to understand what is taking place in the transmission when I shift into drive, i.e. clutch pack one is grabbing first gear, the torque converter is doing something, the accumulator springs (1-2) are doing something. If anyone can give me a general idea of what is happening, please share.

Try dropping the Trans. pan. If the filter is loose/fell out, the tourque converter needs line pressure to UNLOCK, possibly causing your stall. It's quite a common problem with these. It couldn't hurt to check it.

That was the 2nd thing I did. First I replaced the IAC.
Fluid looked good and red other than some really fine dust, which I am figuring to be the clutches....man I don't know anymore. I just don't know transmissions. When it's cold it runs fine, but as it comes up to operating temperature I will get some stumbling when I am stopped. The motor runs great and the tranny goes through all the gears just fine. 1-2 seems to lag quite a bit at WOT, but under normal throttle it is great. OD works awesome too.
GO figure. It's just when you engage the tranny and it is warm, from P,R,N to D it will almost die. The hotter it is the more likely it will die.
No Codes
No blinking OD light.
WTF

Well, I think it may be a bad tourque converter or trans mech. problem (valve body bores worn etc..). You may want to try flushing it again, but if you have over 100,000 mi. then it may need to be rebuilt. Good luck and let us know what it turns out to be.

Thanks for the input tech doc. I was posting this in the tranny forum too and now I will keep it there. Click the link below to get the latest. I am leaning heavily on a rebuild kit and a manual.
I have relatives with an abundance of knowledge and tools.

I figure combined with you guys I can figure it out. It will be a great notch under my belt to rebuild that bad boy.
