There will certainly be an improvement over stock, the OEM intake is very restrictive. No tuner is needed with this intake, just be sure to disconnect your battery before the install so your PCM will "learn" the new amount of air flow and adjust the amount of fuel accordingly.

Don't waste your money when you buy better CAI for the close to the same price.. Go with the AF1 CAI.

Well more air will equal more fuel - but you're not exactly putting more air in to the cylinders, you're allowing it to enter the motor with less resistance.

In theory , you'll net more MPG's. Your only going to take in what the TB allows, you'll have more on demand - Less restriction + Cold air = Efficiancy. In turn , the motor works less to implode with each revolution.

That's why they advertise more mpgs with that set up. You might see 1 mpg increase - you won't loose any..

I got the 77-series, K&N wanted $350 for it, I spent an hour on google and found a brand-new in the box one for $201.96 (inc. shipping!) Nothing feels better than saving $150!

K&N 77 here as well. I don't know what the darn jargain is about the dern fuel mileage. I ain't gained a tenth. LMAO

Looks Great!!! Don't get me wrong. And I know my motor breaths alot better with LESS RESISTANCE.

I am just not fond of the filter. I don't like the oiling. My next investment will be a foam filter, or paper.

I guess when I do it I will have to call it a K&N X series. LOL

I wish I had bought a AF1!!!!:santa:

The best air filter ever and still is the old oil bath air filter of the 50's and before.

I finally installed my K&N FIPK over the weekend. I've had it sitting in the box for about 3 weeks, just no time to install it. The installation was pretty simple, it took me about 1.5 hours. During the insatllation I took the time to clean the throttle body and the mass airflow sensor. After a short test drive around town the family and I took a trip over the river and down the highway to grandma's house, about a 45 min. highway run, I noticed that the mpg calculator on the dash was telling me that I was getting 15.7mpg( cruise control set at 70). The best that I got before the cai was about 13.5. It is still to new to tell if there is any gain around town, but if I can keep my foot of the floor I guess it will be better, time will tell. Eventually I plan on custom tuning from Troyer(seems the way to go based on reputation).

For the 04+ trucks, the K&N FIPK generation 2 kit provides comparable power gains as the 3" AF1. The 3.5" AF1 provides more power, but requires custom tuning to correct the A/F ratios.

The K&N is a great kit, they've been around forever and have always built quality products. Plus, its backed by a lifetime warranty. I have it and i love it.

I've got the Plastic K&N CAI on my Dakota V8, and I noticed only a minor difference in power... but the sound and gas mileage can't be beat.

I might throw one on the F150... but I'm afraid to because of my past experience with the Escape... but then again, that thing was a POS. So it doesn't really validate a good argument on my part.
