Question oil filter wrench?

Gonna go with the amsoil oil filters for my F150. They're round, not like the Motorcraft filters which are easy to remove. Anyone else use the round filters like Mobil, Amsoil etc. and what wrench do you guys use?, just changed out the factory fill on my 08' and noticed how little room there is to operate.....Ford engineers are brutal

thanks :santa:

Stick with the Motorcraft filters. Buy a Motorcraft filter wrench that fits the end of the filter, makes removal a snap. A Motorcraft filter will work great with Amsoil, no need to use their (overpriced) filter.

i think hes talking about the ones with the Nut looking top to put a wrench or a socket on to take it off. if not just man up and bust it off with your hands! ive never used the kind with the thing on the end of it i think you just find the right size and crank on it.

This one should work for most any filter: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02820523000P

I have a previous-design unit that works on the same principle, and I've yet to find a filter that can beat it.

Potentially, yes.

And aside from the factory filter which is installed by gorillas with a sadistic sense of humor, a properly installed oil filter should be able to be removed with your bare hands.

..... if you can get your hands on it, perhaps. In how many vehicles made in the last 15 years have you been able to get two hands on a filter?

Andy

I always put a light coating of silicone caliper lube or silglyde on the base gasket. my filters always come off with one hand.

the very best method I have found for taking off really stuck filters is to wrap the filter with several wraps of coarsed grit emery cloth that comes in rolls about 1.5 inches wide. generates tremendous gripping and turning force and doesn't collapse the filter. Of course you must have a strong grip and at least average arm strength.
