98' 4.6 swap to 5.4...again !
I know it been discuss 1000 times... but i can't find out...all info !
so again.....
i got 98' 150 4x4 auto... want to swap to 5.4 (2006) !!!
what should i know... what model ( it come from )
wiring and cpu the same
intake... headers same
tranny... bolt right in
..... plzzz need help !!

The swap will be way less complicated if you stick to a 99to 03 5.4
You could even put a Lightning motor in there and make BIG power.
Start with one of thees! http://www.johnnylightningperf.com/s...products_id=29
Stick a set of ported and polished heads with HP cams on there.
Then put this kit on top. http://www.nloc.net/classifieds/show...9/limit/recent
Get your self a custom tune or put a Lightning computer in there and your good to go for 5, 6 or 700 RWHP!

Look up user JMC then go thru his posts for the info... Your going to need the donor vehicle for that swap or it may not even be worth it.

if i had more time i could find the thread on here where a guy converted the 04+ TB from electric to cable. which would be one of your headaches.
intakes definately not the same, your 4.6 has a lower deck height, 2v. the 5.4 has higher deck. (im just hitting some major probs here)
exhaust, again deck height change. the 5.4 headers needed.
you have almost a 10 year split and a motor difference. your wiring and comp are going to be different.
im not saying its impossible, just saying the headache probably isnt worth it after you look at the 5.4 lightning swaps.

but i think headhache is the less expensive way to get...fresh engine(low mileage) w/ tranny. and transfer case !!
actually here in Montreal ,canada ... area lightning.. or even harley donor... are pretty rare (and quite expensive too
)
so that why im looking for... a recent 5.4...
