Question Performance Options?

I have a 97 ext cab lariat, 4.6 rebuilt 4R70W tranny and t-case. It has 3.55 gears. Stock engine. My only changes to the truck so far are Single 3 chamber Flowmaster cat back with dual side exit exhaust. Expedition ft seats and console. Looking for good mileage (16+city) and all around performance. What do you all suggest I do? I would like to run a set of MT classic's with 33's on them 3-4 in lift kit.

Thanks,
Mike

Lets see what ya'll got!

air intake and a superchip will make a bit of difference in performance and quite a big difference in fuel mileage

I don't think you're going to get 16+ in the city when you add a lift and big tires despite adding any mods to offset.

I'm not familiar with a Super chip for a 97-98 5.4L or 97-00 4.6L non-PI motor. Does it really work well ? Better than a tuner? I never added any of these mods because I thought they really didn't do that much for these motors - unless you had the up graded PI set up.

16+ in the city? I have a hard time getting that in my short cab short bed 4x2 V6 with a manual transmission and stock height and tires. With 33's and a lift, no matter what you do I don't think you will get any better than 14 in the city. You will need to regear to get any kind of decent performance and that should actually improve your gas mileage.

Russ, is that CITY mileage with a calibrated or corrected odometer?
