Agreed, change the oil every 3000 or a long drive on the highway will get rid of it.

I have never ever seen white crap like that in any vehicle I've owned (98 GP, 02 Durango, 86 Olds). Asked my in-laws, and dad's never seen that either (05 Lariat, 06 Montego)... unless there was something wrong.

It is 100% normal on these trucks. Used to happen all the time when it was cold while I had my F-150

White foam inside the oil cap is nothing serious. It is just condensation and comes and goes with the seasons.. Always has.

One of the products of combustion is water vapor. Hot air around the engine is saturated with water in the winter. As the engine cools, water condenses onto cool surfaces.

While any water in the engine has probably boiled off, IF it was run long enough , small amounts of condensation collect around the filler cap and mix with oil droplets to form a creamy emulsion.

A bi-product of winter - Enhanced w/short trips..

Not disagreeing with your thesis. I'm just sayin that everytime I've seen H2O in the oil, it was a bad head gasket or something worse. Granted, there was also coolant missing. I've just never seen what the pics are showing in any of my vehicles. And I live in New England.

Yea , now that's a problem

But , yea, that creamy crapola doesn't hurt any thing - not here anyway . I wipe it out before a change if I have any . 230,000 miles on this 5.4L , doesn't burn a bit between oil changes and it still doesn't leak..I get that stuff from time to time..

(right click them and go to properties...)
a megabyte is 1 million bytes and a kilobyte is 100,000 bytes.

30 megabytes would be 30 million bytes or 300,000 kilobytes.
the largest pic is 1 MB

but thanks for the concern. now back to your regularly scheduled topic
I forgot to say sorry... I didn't realize that it was imageshack's server being slow on those pictures. I didn't even look at the sizes carefully... I know the bit, byte, and kilobyte conversions... I dunno what I was thinking.

I typed before I thought.
