Engine semi-permanent shut-down

Howdy fells, this will be one of my last posts for quite a while. I'm going to Boot-camp within the next two weeks. I was going too go in Feb. but I got kicked out of the house for no particular reason (seriously though even my siblings are mad at my parents.) ANYWAY sorry too get side-tracked, but I bought my truck in full, I paid for it, I paid for all but insurance for 4 months, and now I still do. Anyway, the truck is still under my dad's name and as I was leaving the house, he said get out of the truck...so since its under his name I did so. I need a semi-permanent way too shut down the engine so he can not use the truck for my 14 week duration. Then upon returning I wan't to be able to start it again. If I took both keys he would have called the cops, so now I am working on a way to dissable the truck temporarily. Thanks guys I will miss y'all please I need a way before I leave monday.

I see you have an edge go in and set the speed limit as low as it will go so he will be abe to drive it but he wont be able to get out of 1st gear. and give your edge to a buddy or take it with you. that or you can break off the key in the ignition, or pull all the COPs thats all i can think of now. hope it helps

Hmm didn't think of the speed-limiter idea, thats a good one. I took the edge with me, so I can definately go back and do that! Thats a good idea, thanks!

Try the edge trick out... this way there is NO way to undo it unless he brings it by the dealer and spends like $1000 to get it diagnosed... that's an aweful trick... but if he does it, I'd fall of my chair laughing all the way to your house... they would probably think the ECU was going bad and swap out the ECU.

If not here are some other crazy ideas:
-Pull the plugs, insert the COPs back in and screw them in and attached the wires. He'll never figure it out.
-Remove the driveshaft.
-Remove the computer entirely and take it with you.
-Remove the serpentine belt.
-Disconnect the fuel lines.
-Rekey the truck.
-Get 4 wheel locks/clamps with BEST locks and thick chains.
-Remove the transmission or engine...

Just some ideas..

Here's another thing you can do real quick and you don't need any tools. Remove the passenger side kick panel and hit the "test" on the inirtia switch.

If he don't know about that switch - it will take awhile to figure out..

One good way was already mentioned- the inertia switch. next , go and pull loose the connectors on all the cop's just enough so they still look like they are on. another good one : Go and find a key maker, get some new keys made that look like the original ones, but do not have the P.A.T.S. installed on the keys. cost about 10 bucks to get some keys made, and that truck will not start without the PATS keys programmed!! and he will probally never figure it out. just be sure to get all the original keys swapped out! VICTORY IS YOURS!!
Glad to hear you are goin in the service. What branch? They are all good, and i am proud of you for that choice!

I don't understand why he would call the cops?! And why is it under his name? And why should he even care if you bought it?! I wonder if your father is in debt with loans and credit cards and while you are plans on selling your truck without you knowing about it, and use the cash to pay on some of his loans or something else.

As that would be the only logical thing I can think of... especially if your father is mad enough to kick you out of the house... If I were you... before you leave... just drop the insurance, and get your father to sign it off in your name and park it someplace he doesn't know about. Sucks that a piece of paper is the only thing saying that it is his.

Take all the fuses out of the fuse box. Then go under the hood and disconnect the battery. Next, disconnect the fuel line. If all else fails, put together a little packet of high explosives, and wire it to the headlights. Let him drive it around during the day thinking that everything is okay - and when he turns on the lights - kaboom!!! Why not just confront him with a firearm and show him who is boss?

But seriously?!?!?!

Dude, don't turn to a pick up truck enthusiast forum for family counseling. You guys probably have way more problems than any of us can help you with. Even if a forum member is a qualified mental health professional, he/she would serve you best to suggest getting help if you are to solve your differences. If you don't care, then that's another matter. But it sounds to me as if your family should look into group therapy sessions. Asking truck owners for tips on sabotage is not going to help with the big picture.
