No the top hose from your K&N intake tube by the throttle body, your set up is suppose to have one - it's a big box thing - it's between your intake top IAC hose and IAC. - The BIG hose.

i dont even think that was on my stock intake. i still have my stock intake ill look when i go home. the K&N kit didnt have one and the instructions didnt say to take anything from my stock intake expect the MAF. but ill look when i go home ill look. without that box would it cause my truck to run funny?

 

That's because it's not considered part of your intake - it helps meter the flow to the IAC . It's needed . The 5.4L don't have one like that , it has one but it's different. Your humming noise will probably go away , but depending on the condition of your IAC will reflect how she idles.

 

yeah ill take a look when i get home. whats the thing behide the TB called? it comes from the PCV on the valve cover. i just want that annoying noise to go away! and my idle to come up a lil bit it idles at 500RPM's. whats Black spark plug tip mean?

 

It will as soon as you put the part back on it .. The PCV plugs into your manifold. Theres a rubber 90 degree elbow back there - If that was leaking you would have a high idle. The black on the sparkplug is because it was misfing partially - raw fuel dumping in there - that will fry your O2's as well..

 

i pulled 2 other spark plugs Cyl 4 and 6 i belive the frist and 3rd one on the passenger side of the engine and those were also black too. If that box on the IAC is important home come my truck hasnt made this noise since i put the intake on? its been running fine with not porb untill a few days ago. just wondering thanks a ton Jbrew!!. lol this started misfireing after i jumped a snowback that i didnt know was frozen. and i did a doughnut and snow got all over the front of the truck lol. somehow when i was going side ways my truck got into 3rd gear because of how fast the back tires were spinning. lol i < 3 snow!!! im gonna take a vid of my truck plowing into a snowman!

 

Because it's F^cking up slowly - as time goes on, it will run worse and won't get better until it has the parts it needs to run right. You put SIM's on there - BIG mistake. Now your computers being lied to and can't adjust properly because of it . NO CATS That's just bad every way you look at it. The trucks sick and confused and your polluting the environment to put it bluntly..You have more than just one thing wrong , you have a combination of things and it's going to bite you in the a$$..

its got the Front o2's the back ones just tell the computer if the cats are working. i found that box thingy but how would i put it on with my K&N on the stock it just shoved in the intake tube but the K&N is metal or w/e and cant shove on there.The part number on the box is PA6-(GF+M)40 M536A if that means anything. if no cats is so bad why do so many people do it? and how come alot of cars came stock with no cats untill 1980's? the Earths alredy gonna blow up not like im gonna effect it that much with no cats. but other than that. im going to replace my PCV and get new coil packs is there anything else to my shopping cart list i should add?

 

so does anyone know what this box thing does? also my truck stoped misfireing but still idles low and when it makes that humming noise the idle shoots up about 200 to 300RPM higher and then i have to give it a lil rev and the idle goes down again its almost like what i have to do to my corvette to kick it down. when it makes that humming noise i can feel it on the gas pedal. any ideas?
