Any ideas???
yep
According to the codes supplied with the reader the fault is....(Fuel volume regulator control circuit open)......
The truck is running fine, no misfire or hesitation. Its too dark to see under the hood so I'm just looking for ideas so I can get straight to it in the morning.

Firstly the problem.............when I finally got under the hood this morning I found a hose split (small bore) which joins a chrome pipe to a black plastic electric device mounted about three inches in front of the fuel regulator. This device also has another small bore hose (though a little larger) that also runs down to a chrome pipe. Something to do with exhaust gases? As the chrome pipes seem to lead onto a larger pipe onto exhaust.
Secondly the code reader....is a OBD2 Memoscanner u380 (www.uiftech.com) The codes in the book supplied are the same as in the Haynes manual I have except they start at 01.

Sounds like the DPFE mounting hoses.
They would give a 401/402 etc, codes depending on how the PCM sees the fault..
The reader's ability changes to the CAN system by either 04 or 05 model year. So reader is one or the other unless made to handle both systems.
I use the term reader as the difference between a reader only and a scanner that has the ability to look deeper into PCM operation and able to give testing commands to the PCM.
