Engine locked up

Wife was driving truck, pulled over and it died. Tried to start would not turn over, even tried to roll start but tires just locked up. No noise before turning off. Any suggestions?

Since you didn't identify your truck, I'm guessing a 4.2 from 97 to 99 which means its hydrolocked....

Crystal ball isn't working, you have to provide details.

What do you have? Include the engine size.

My magic 8 ball says: It's not looking good.

What year, make, model, and engine are we working on?

one hint, you don't roll start an automatic and sprag the tires unless it's in park.

Engine locked up

Sorry it is a 1998 4.6l 5 speed. What is hydrolocked? How do you cure it?

Thinking down a different line - how's the battery?
Did the starter engage with the same 'oomph' it normally does?

Hydrolocked is when sufficient liquid - be it gas, oil, water, etc. - enters one or more combustion chambers in a quantity greater than the volume of the cylinder at top dead center. Liquids do not compress very well, if at all, thus the stress is passed on to compenents in the engine. Piston rods can get bent, cranks can get bent - pretty ugly stuff. If damage has occured, it will not be a quick nor inexpensive fix.

Well, you don't really. Pull the plugs and check for liquid in the cylinders. If you have it, it is head gasket failure or a crack in the cylinder/block causing the leak. If you have hydrolock, I would just purchase a remanufactured long block since it is very likely you have substantial internal engine damage requiring every part has to be disassembled, examined and repaired/straightened or replaced as required.

You can do this yourself, but to pay a shop to do this, well, it will get a little expensive and it might just be cheaper to get a reman.
