low idle

What is the typical idle (rpm) for a 5.4 L V8 2000 F-150?

I thought it was about 1500 but i'm second guessing myself. My truck has been dying when i crank it and put it in gear so I took it to the shop. They told me i needed to clean out the injection system. So i had them do that and replace the fuel filter. I just got it back and when i crank it, it idles at about 1000 for 5 seconds then drops to 600 rpms. It is no longer sputtering but i feel that this is lower than normal. they told me to drive and that the computer has to reset itself so is this part of that or do i need something else done? i also had the check the fuel pressure to determine if the pump was the problem but nothing came of that. thanks

I am going to take a shot and say that anywhere between 600 and 900 will be about right.

It would be hard for me to believe it would be set to 1500 constantly. They do have high revs till things start to warm up a little, then it should drop to 600-900. It does vary between different motors at times, but, normally in that range.

My 4.6 idles at 1300 till it warms up and drops between 600 and 900rpm, when it starts to warm up.

I hope that helps.
