Fordgirl was the last 4six owner that I heard of that blew one. We helped her get that fixed under $300 after the dealership quoted her over 2 grand.
All 4six's were COP'ed in 01..

Dang guys...where's the love?? I didn't disagree with anyone once I admitted my mistake of missing something in the original post!! Just tryin to help the guy out and make sure everything is covered is all...
Me disagreeing doesn't make me wrong either, so think about that.
The guy has yet to come back and share any results with us.
When my plug screwed back in after the first blow, the idle wasn't quite what it was before. Didn't notice at the time but notice now that it's fixed properly and I look back on it. Yea, it stayed in and ran, but my theory is there was always some amount of compression loss around the plug. After the Time-Sert repair, the idle smoothed out and my gas mileage was a tiny bit better. Engine felt smoother everywhere...and I was using the same plug that had now blown out twice!!!
Just throwing out ideas.

Can you imagine this if we didn't have COPs?? I bet a plug flinging around on the end of a conventional plug wire would wreak havoc on the underside of the hood
My 98 4.6 blew the #1 plug. This was almost down to the last tenth of 60k miles since I changed them last time. It went back in just fine, and, I ran a scope in there and no visible damage. Ran it till I got my new ones in the mail.

But I have 23000 mile and I have just put My third set of plugs in, and yes the truck runs better

Something here does not compute
Factory F2's
Roush S/C new set F1's
Had some bad coils from Granatelli I don't know it they foul out some of the F1's but it was hesitating so I just put a set of Autolite Revolution HT0 Spark Plugs in and its running great right now

Sorry guys. I haven't been able to get to a computer in a while to let you know the progress. I have, however, enjoyed reading some of your replies.
I changed out the plug, and it still runs a little rough, but not like it did. It isn't misfiring like it was months ago when I first changed the spark plugs and COP's. I was wondering if it blew out maybe due to not tightening it enough. Of course, after well over 1,000 miles, I don't think that would have been the cause. As far as the threads on the head go, I haven't been home during daylight hours to get in and see. (I teach and coach at a local high school). I took it up to the auto-tech at my school, and he said it threw a p1000 code, but couldn't remember the exact number. (Thanks). I brought it home, no code has popped up since. He said maybe EGR valve. I would like to know what Time-Sert is though.

I have found out and researched alittle what Time-Sert is. I am hoping to not have to go that route, with the holidays creeping up and all.
It feels more like a hesitation han misfire, not sure if that makes sense. You can hear it more in the exhaust as well now. I am going to get a new fuel filter, as lately I have let the low fuel light come on due to just pure laziness.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you can get 14' - 16 'lbs (max) on a new plug in that hole - your good to go coach..
P1000 - Follows a somewhat fresh reboot. Usually because you EVAP hasn't finished it's drive/duty cycle testing. It takes a while .
For your EVAP to test , certain conditions have to be met. One of them is , well, okay - two of them are , you must have at least a 1/2 tank of fuel and you can't generate to much slosh in the tank or it will not test.
Keep her above half and drive civilized and you'll get there quicker..
Yea , change the fuel filter and clean the MAF Sensor as well. - Post back the results and if theres still a problem , some one here will give yuh hand - Quite a few good people round here..
