Smoking the Tires!!!!

I have an 01 supercrew 5.4T, 4x4 with 3.55 limited slip rearend, ABS, Xcal2, Intake, Catback siso 3" Exhaust, and 265/75r16 tires....

Why cant I Spin my tires? They wont even break loose if I powerbrake it Is this because the supercrews weigh more, or the limited slip and 4 wheel disk, ABS brakes? Kind of a dumb post but I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this...you would think with 300+ lbs. of tq you could break the tires loose!!!

Huh.. Not sure - I have 3.55's as well..And you have more power than I..

Yours won't chirp a little , like that^^^^?

Oh wait , - do you have the sterling 9.75 rear gear or the 8.8.. - The 9.75 distributes more torque.. But still , your motor has about 25 more ponies than mine.. Clean up the Throttle body, elbow & ports.

What plugs are you running and how old are the COP's ?

if you had drums in the back you could loosen them a lil bit to make them not brake as hard. i dont think you can do that with rotors. my 97 with drum brakes does it no prob. even with the bigger tire 265/70/R16 smoked the stock 235's pretty fast. i think it could be the fact you have rotors in the back. dont know for sure just my .02 cents

I have an 03 Screw,(same as you,5.4) and it would not spin the tiers when it had just bolt ons on it. And that was before I put in a L/S diff,,,lol.
That's was one of the reasons I added a blower!

Its in the technique, I am not a fan of burning off my tires, but a friend of mine with a new chev. Was messing around at the bar one night and did a quick breakstand, his would spin, I of course HAD to respond with what the ford could do, well, I was embarased as it would not let them loose! however on a second try, I pulled my foot back on the brake just enough for the front to budge a bit and it made the rear loose enough to let go, then put your foot back in the brakes a bit to hold the truck.

FWIW, I like the blower idea better!

funny built. yeah i think if you lighty hold down the brake because there rotors the backs will break loose. or just add 500HP to your truck and they will always break loose right built??

Do ya'll even know how to power-brake properly?

Notice how I build the RPMs up first, THEN release some brake pressure? Try doing that, and for God's sake, don't be doing it on concrete.

Spinning tires is caused by lack of traction more than an excess of power.

I never understood why blowing the tires off was a cool thing to do, unless you're at a burnout contest or something.

I never do, unless if I'm about to get new tires put on, like I was in the video.

ya and you have a turbo to so getin your RPM's up higher helps you make more power. lol but less brake should do it.. my 97 4.6L with drums in the back did it stock. before i even started modding it.
