head gasket: fixed but now what?

so the dealer fixed the headgasket, replaced head bolts, replaced ALL of the upper engine gaskets from the head gaskets up) flushed the engine and coolant for me. pulled the engine replaced oil pan gasket their cost my request. they broke the egr tube getting it off so they replaced that, they broke another sensor getting that out and also replaced that as well. (i forget which one it was but none of the upper sensors appear damaged in any way so i believe them)they ran my TB and intake through their solvent tank and cleaned that up for me.

so for all intents and purposes my upper engine is brand new...

cold start proudes a kind of whining noise, and the ac compressor pulley is still rattling a bit but i knew about the pulley issue. i still have a rough idle, im sure its the IAC valve. my truck seems to eat more gas than before (im guessing increased power due to a functional head gasket now) and the pedal itself seems alot stiffer. the oil pressure and temps are prefectly fine, no issues. though i did notice a bit of a milky white residue on the oil cap, that was not there when i picked it up. only thing i can figure there is their flush either didnt happen or they missed some stuff.

Milky sh+t on the cap= normal. As stupid as it sounds, it happens, and not always. The whine? might be pulley related, can't be certain. I'd give it a bit of time, they should be warrantying parts/labor for a year or 12000 miles. Ten to one they didn't spend alot of time flushing and you'd be surprised at what a clean IAC or better yet a new IAC will do for idling.

i figure ill run on the oil they put in for another 2k miles then go back to synthetic like i had. yah im planning to do the IAC real soon. just put on a new belt so its not the belt. did a search and found a few threads on the whine but it seems just to be a F150 thing they do when cold. dono though, im a bit of a perfectionist about this truck and if its somethign wrong i wanna fix it/ get dealer to fix it before they start brushing me off.

unless you your driving for over 30 mins - 45 mins that milky color will be on the oil cap if you drive for an hour and then look at it i bet it will be a normal black. mine is always like that in the city. upper engine takes a lil bit to get hott.

Yea, the milky crap is normal - from short trips usually..

Hey , clean the MAF too, that may help ( :

Make sure you re-boot

BTW - mine whined a little before . I used a belt conditioner spray (NOT a slip preventative) on it. I don't really know if that fixed it or not .. I took the belt completely off and reinstalled it after checking the pulleys and it quit ..?? So , you can give that a try if you like..
